A perfect summer treat that’s sweet, fresh, and nourishing!

🍑 Peach Season Is Here!

ree

Sweet, juicy, and sun-kissed — peaches are at their peak right now, and they’re as nutritious as they are delicious. Why peaches? Because they’re rich in vitamin C, vitamin A, and fiber, supporting digestion, glowing skin, and hydration during hot summer days. Whether you enjoy them fresh, sliced over yogurt, or grilled to bring out their natural caramelized sweetness — peaches are the perfect seasonal super fruit.

Grilled Peaches with Yogurt Sauce

Recipe:

Ingredients (Serves 4)

For the peaches:

  • 2 ripe peaches, halved and pitted

  • 1 tsp olive oil or coconut oil

  • A sprinkle of cinnamon (optional)

For the yogurt sauce:

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (or unsweetened plant-based yogurt)

  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

  • Zest of lemon or orange (optional for a citrusy twist)

Optional toppings:

  • Chopped walnuts, pistachios, or pumpkin seeds

  • Homemade granola

  • Fresh mint leaves

  • A drizzle of extra honey

Instructions:

  1. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.

  2. Brush the cut sides of the peaches with oil and sprinkle with cinnamon if using.

  3. Place peaches cut-side down on the grill. Grill for 3–4 minutes, or until nicely charred and tender.

  4. While they grill, whisk together all the yogurt sauce ingredients in a small bowl until smooth.

  5. Serve warm peaches topped with a generous spoonful of the yogurt sauce and your favorite toppings.

Tips:

  • You can swap peaches for nectarines or pineapples.

  • For a vegan version, use plant-based yogurt and maple syrup or agave.

  • Serve as a light dessert, fancy breakfast, or post-BBQ snack

Recommended PYO Peach Farms in Ontario:

1. Andrew’s Scenic Acres (near Halton Hills)

  • Offers peaches alongside apples, berries, corn, flowers, and more

  • Great mix of produce—ideal for making a full farm-day adventure!

2. Parkway Orchards (Niagara‑on‑the‑Lake)

  • Has a farm café and gift shop—perfect for a family outing.

3. Cherry Avenue Farms (Vineland)

  • Freestone peaches available; baskets prepaid ($7–8)

  • Over 100 acres—also grows cherries, plums, apricots.

4. Great Lakes Farms (Port Stanley)

  • Hosts seasonal “PeachFest” in August with U-pick available

  • Also sells ready-picked peaches and baked goods at their Apple Barn café.

🏡 How to Store Fresh Peaches at Home

  1. Ripen at room temperature: Leave firm peaches on the counter for 1–3 days until slightly soft.

  2. Refrigerate when ripe: Once juicy-soft, store in the fridge for up to a week—this slows overripening.

  3. Freezing tip: Slice, remove pits, lightly coat with lemon juice to avoid browning, and freeze in a single layer before bagging.

  4. Want to can or jam? Ripe but firm peaches (not overripe) make the best spreads.
